Colour can fade, borders can become less defined and lips can begin to look thinner or less symmetrical. Some people have naturally pale lips, while others have areas of lost pigment from scarring, ageing or previous treatments.

Lip blush is a form of cosmetic tattooing designed to restore soft, natural looking colour and definition to the lips without trying to make them look like someone else's.

It can be particularly helpful for pale or thinning lips, uneven or poorly defined lip borders, asymmetry and some types of scarring. It can also work beautifully alongside lip filler, with filler creating physical volume while lip blush helps restore colour and definition.

The aim is not necessarily to look like you are wearing lipstick every day. For many of our clients, it is simply about putting back what time, genetics or life has taken away.

Who is Lip Blush For?

Lip blush may be suitable if your lips:

• are naturally pale or lacking colour
• have become lighter or less defined with age
• have an uneven or poorly defined lip border
• appear thinner as natural colour has receded
• have asymmetry you would like to visually balance
• have areas of scarring or pigment loss
• have lip filler but still lack colour or definition
• require makeup every day to create the definition you would prefer naturally

Every set of lips is different, which is why colour, shape and technique are selected individually rather than using the same formula for every client.

OUR APPROACH

We are, by our own admission, a little nerdy about cosmetic tattooing.

Lip blush involves much more than choosing a pretty colour. Natural lip tone, undertone, skin, symmetry, scarring, previous tattooing, filler, pigment composition choice and the way pigment heals all influence the final result. Our artists are internationally trained in modern cosmetic tattooing techniques, with an emphasis on colour theory, skin integrity and results that continue to look natural as they heal and fade.

Before tattooing begins, we assess your lips and discuss the result you are hoping to achieve. Colour is selected with your input and the design is carefully considered before we begin. We also place considerable importance on the pigments we use. Our pigments are EU certified, vegan and MRI safe, and are selected for how they behave and heal within the skin over time.

Our studio holds the appropriate skin penetration licensing and follows strict hygiene practices.

The aim is not simply to create beautiful lips on appointment day. It is to work with your natural lip tissue and colour towards a result that heals beautifully and continues to suit you long term.
 

The treatment is semi-permanent, lasting up to three years depending on the skin type. Please keep in mind that a second session is normally required for the client to see the final result after healing. Allow up to 3 hours for this session. A touch-up must be completed within eight weeks to avoid additional charges and to achieve the desired result.

If you're prone to cold sores, we recommend taking anti-viral medication starting a 3 - 5 days before your appointment and continuing for 3 -5 days after (during healing) to prevent an outbreak.
